In the year 2036, a global incarceration method was implemented to curb over-population of criminals and inmates in world-wide prisons known as HbarSent (hyperbaric sentencing). Effectively reducing space, money, and security to manage criminals by stacking inmates in hyperbaric capsules deep underground, HbarSent suspended the lives of criminals by sentencing them to terms of hyperbaric suspension. During the process of their term, they would age biologically, while being reconditioned mentally through synaptic methods based on their crimes.
In 2050, the Great Solar Flare struck Earth.
And all hell broke loose.
Matthew Hemmings is among the criminals prematurely freed, and is in search of the truth of his conviction, firmly believing he was innocent. He awakes to a destitute world, overrun by warlords and usurpers, with one goal in mind: to clear his name. From New Mexico he begins his plight, while gathering a motley bunch of misfits along the way, seeking answers to their own convictions.
Rebecca May is also in search of answers, but not as a former criminal, but as an avenging daughter looking to find her father's murderer.
Together they carve a path through the chaos and ultimately uncover the truth about the Great Solar Flare, and themselves.
